The interconnected and open character of cyberspace has offered unprecedented opportunities for our economies and has transformed the fabric of our societies. By the same token, cyber threats are growing both in numbers and in sophistication. As the majority of networks are owned and operated by the private sector, its technological innovations and expertise are crucial for cyber defence. Cooperation, in particular information sharing on threats, can reinforce the resilience of networks and help to prevent, respond to, and recover from, cyber attacks. Against this background, we will work with industry as part of an open, transparent and mutually beneficial partnership – the NATO Industry Cyber Partnership (NICP). Such a partnership supports NATO’s principal role in cyber defence: the protection of its own networks.

NATO and FireEye Announce Cyber Information Sharing Agreement

The NATO Communications and Information (NCI) Agency and FireEye, Inc. signed on 15 December an Industry Partnership Agreement (IPA) on cyber information sharing, further strengthening NATO and industry collective cyber defence. NATO holds annual cyber exercise in Estonia
